    • Biography
    Born in 1986, Gizem Akman graduated from Mimar Sinan State Conservatory, Contemporary Dance department (Istanbul/Turkey). Based in Berlin since 2016, Akman is still moving, dreaming, searching, researching, laughing and observing. Akman works as an Interdisciplinary Dance Artist / Performer, Choreographer, Voice Artist and Actor. She has been active in the areas of Contemporary Dance Techniques, Improvisation, and Movement Research since an early age. Inspired by movement analyst Laban’s “Cube” she focuses on the movement of the space and the relation of the movement to this space in order to create a temporary place. Her ongoing research project “Body as a witness, evidence and Space” creates a deep connection between society and architecture.
