    Seçil Yersel has made her BA in Sociology at Mimar Sinan University and finished her MA in Art at the Marmara University Art Academy in Istanbul. Since 1994 she has been working with and within photography, text and sound. Yersel has been active in “writing” since 1994 and also producing texts for exhibitions and performances. Yersel is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA)-Turkey. Since 2000 Seçil Yersel has been the co-founder of the artist collective Oda Projesi (İstanbul) with Özge Açıkkol and Güneş Savaş.

    Artist Statement
    Since 1994 Yersel works with and within photography; in search for third spaces and new perceptions of place making through focusing on “passages in time and space” in city life; she walks, collects, sounds and shares her productions in exhibitions, publications, in different occasions and moments. Seçil Yersel has been “writing” since 1994; she is documenting, recording and noting the daily life from the point of a collector and binder. Since 2000 Seçil Yersel is the co-founder of the artist collective Oda Projesi (İstanbul) with Özge Açıkkol and Güneş Savaş. Oda Projesi situates itself specifically into the energetics of the city of İstanbul and its main objective has been to look at the rapid physical and social changes in the urban texture by creating alternative modes of space making and establishing links of solidarity through relationships.
