"My artistic practice focuses on nature and geopolitics, as well as mental health, and between which there are great similarities and connections. Regardless of the issue at hand, my projects always start with personal feelings; fascination, anger, helplessness, grief, and determination, they quickly become political. Conflicting feelings one has in the middle of a mesmerizing landscape get disrupted by the reality of it. The collective trauma of genocide and yearning manifest themselves as Mount Ararat; the isolation and despair can be seen through an entire lake region that is facing drought as the result of eco-politics, just to count a few.
Agency of Nature, ownership, conflicting histories, and appropriation and exploitation of land and culture are often the focus of my work. Through photography, installations, deconstructing and reconstructing, research, fieldwork, and archival material, my experiences and observations become a new artistic language with each project".
